Good social welfare also benefits the entire society, not just the people in need of assistance
More importantly there is no stigma to those who need the service and there are no hoops so that those in need get it rather than not because they are not system savy. This is definitely the way.
Yeah but they are specifically not letting you get away with that tactic. You can't just pick and choose the parts of the argument that are best suited to your own opinions. What kind of change would ever be enacted if we go around saying we shouldn't do anything for people because a certain percentage might be benefiting when they don't need it?
If I decide to give away the rest of my cake and the fattest man in the room eats it...well I'm just happy someone got cake who wanted it!

Sorry then, I thought you were just trying to point out that it will help people who don't need it. Text/words is hard to interpret sometimes!
A family with enough income to support them will not have to turn to crime out of necessity. They are also able to spend their money on non-essentials which stimulates the economy. They also don't need to work 2-3 jobs to survive, which will instead lead to more job opportunities
