Thanks for the insightful comment! Today I learned all about “American cheese”. Makes me want to hunt down and try some non Kraft singles American cheese.

Believe it or not, kraft makes the real cheese version too, you just have to check the pack carefully because the label isn't always clear.

I believe it was boar's head that made the stuff I prefer, we're out and my brain just isn't pulling up the brand. But you can usually ask at a deli and find something.
