That escalated quickly.

Might you have voted for Trump by any chance?

Oh no, they're worse than that. They're a "both parties are the same" type.

I think that if you can't tell the difference between the Democratic party and the Republican party, you have to be getting your news from some rabidly partisan sources.

I didn't, it was meant as an absurd joke but I clearly judged the room wrong. might be the cold meds kicking in though.

I've had colds, but I've never verbally abused someone's sister because of a system of weights and measures that I'm not keen on.

Tipping your hot sister at the local strip club is abuse?

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's abusive to suggest that someone's sister is a stripper, and I'll remind you that this was when someone said they didn't want to have their country taken over by America and lose the metric system of weights and measures, which is a reasonable position. Making lewd comments about someone's family in response is excessive and in poor taste.

I think you meant to be more abusive by suggesting they voted for Trump. And I'm not digging your judgy attitude towards strippers, pal.

10/10 uno revsrse card, but I think you're aware that most people would take offence if you claimed their sister was a stripper, and I also think it's a sexist response and that sexist folks are more likely to vote Republican, and specifically for Trump.

The metric system is a perfectly reasonable system of weights and measures to want to keep and not wanting your country to lose its independence to the USA is also reasonable. "Your sister's a stripper" is not a reasonable response to that.
