I would disagree, I would say the majority is left leaning. The issue is that we don’t have an electoral system that can accurately reflect that. With things like the electoral college and the senate preventing any form of majority representation as well with just how our election are done( 51/49 winner take all) the deck is stacked against any form of progressive or leftist politics from even taking place.

The issue is that you can do a list of leftist policies and have a supermajority of Americans agree they'd be good ideas until they find out they're leftist ideas.
