Yes, but also what OP posted. When the women and minorities "knew their place" and the queer folks just didn't exist in public.

Probably mostly for middle class white people. A pretty significant chunk of the population I think struggled to enjoy those benefits.

I don't think about that because all of the culturally-produced content I have access to paints a steady picture of property and compliance. This is my mental model and my friends and I aren't in the mood for a new story right now. ^^^/$
