Technically this supports just getting rid of womans sports and having just open leagues.

i dont know how you came to this conclusion, i would say its fairly clear that the goal of the meme is to say that you should be able to do things you want like pursuing education or sports, without bullshit barrier to entry.

thats what an open league is. no barrier to entry.

okay but that does not answer my question

how did you come to the conclusion that this meme supports abolishing gendered sports?

Can you please explain how saying education and economic advancement shouldn't be tied to athletic performance supports the abolishment of women's sports leagues?

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

it does not but open leagues would be open to all. You basically are no longer limiting competitive sports to any particular gender.

[–] BiNonBi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes that is the definition of an open league. What does that have to do with the meme?

yeah I guess it was kramer agreeing but looking at it more I think your right. I would like open leagues though and not hooking rewards to athletics and just letting people who want to do it, do it. granted you can have brackets anyway. we already do with varsity, junior varsity, intermural.

Nah, I think open leagues should still have some informal separation, like differences in uniforms and team gender themes but it shouldn't be strict. Girls' teams should allow femboys and boys' teams should allow tomboys.

No, we should abolish all divisions and join the same team. We should all present one united front against the clock and score as many points as possible in the time limit.

Yeah but there's still differences in game rules that may be played by separate teams like yes/no contact in lacrosse and hockey, and that difference in rules results in a difference in player armor and padding and a likely difference in the proportions of which gender be attracted to one or the other variety of the same sport.

Which it's totally fine if the gender proportions are equal between the contact and non-contact varieties of a specific sport, but I predict culture may make those proportions not equal.

don't you already get that with the different teams. different schools or cities and such.
