Cause I sometimes feel that all software except for some tiny suckless tools is cobbled-together and in a constant state of disrepair.

Yep! It's a fascinating mix of bad timelines, bad tools, and most of us not yet having mastered even our tiny corner of the craft.

But I've been assured that AI will solve all of that.
