Well, waste is council-specific. Our council outsources garbage pickup to Cleanaway - it's their trucks that do the bins. They are not smart.

The trucks, that is. I'm sure the people are Cleanaway are very intelligent. They just do their routes each week and then find a nice secluded park somewhere to chill for the couple of hours between when they finish their rounds and going back to the depot. Don't want to return too early, they might be assigned more work to do.

Other councils in Perth may have smart trucks, but I haven't heard of any. I've only seen that sort of tech on parking inspectors at the local council level.

I'd bet Cleanaway has smart trucks and dumb trucks... and they only use the smart ones when they need it. E.g. for commercial waste where you're not just stopping at every single house.
