TIL - the concept of animals going exinct wasn't accepted until the 1800s. Prior to this, if an extinct animal skeleton or fossil was discovered, people assumed it came from a species still around ... (en.wikipedia.org)

Strange wording for a title, but the idea is not far fetched. Every animal is linked like a chain, so it’s impossible for any animal to be extinct, the thought is they live on in another chain. Mammoth extinct? Nope they are part elephant. It’s wrong but would make sense at the time when creation was the main view.
