This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

It's Beehaw, this shouldn't be surprising they've been well known for this type of thing for a while. When I first joined Lemmy.world they immediately decided to defederate from Lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works. I never participated in any communities there before and given what I've heard about them I probably won't in the future, just doesn't seem worth it. They've this type of thing isn't out of character for them, in fact I've actually heard them doing it over less.

Some people really like this reactive style of moderation, whatever floats your boat. I understand that moderation is important and I would never argue otherwise (seriously, I don;t want to hear any strawman arguments about this). I do think though they have a tendency to take things too far sometimes, in some cases they end up alienating their own allies or even their own people. The upshot though is that they tend to be a very isolated community and it is easy to find good alternatives for all the spaces on it elsewhere.

Of course if you do want to keep going there that's fine, but unless you're willing to walk on egg shells (and still expect to have similar experiences anyway every so often), I wouldn't personally recommend it, but that's just my opinion.
