Are you tired of clickbait and the current state of journalism? This community is meant to remind you that excellent journalism still happens. While not sticking to a specific topic, the focus will be on high-quality articles and discussion around their topics.

If you couldn't be bothered to read it: It was mainly protestant Germans from rural areas, as well as upper-middle-class districts.

The same strata of people that always vote for fascists. It's a long tradition of conservatives consolidating power and wealth at the top because they think they can get a piece of it.

same then - the industrialists, the rich who thought they could control the fascist in charge.

funny how that keeps happening.

When Hitler would speak in beer halls he'd emphasize national SOCIALIST WORKERS party. When he spoke to the press or the wealthy social clubs the emphasis was on NATIONALIST. Hitler, Trump, Mussolini, LePen, Dutarte all of them just say whatever will get them into power. Often downplaying any of the negatives their policies could cause for the audience.

So yes, bankers, industrialists, and the idle rich supported Hitler, but also the common German trades person, factory worker, and low level bureaucrat. The common German did as much to elect Hitler as the wealthy did.

Fascists gonna fascist.
