Having any mods enabled stops you from getting Steam achievements. A small price to pay for Squeak Through.

I'll check when I'm back home, but I'm positive that I'm using it. Try checking the mod explorer, not the update tab.

So I remembered slightly wrong, this is the version I'm using. It's not an update to the original but a continuation by a different author

Also changing some map settings, like disabling biters IIRC
