As I see there no point to mine Monero on a typical machine if your point is not to help the network, I do have 10k/h just to help Monero. So, why would anyone mine monero?

Genuinely curious here. How long have you been mining and has it given you any returns? Looking into potentially turning one of my Single Board Computers into a mining machine, but haven't quite pulled the trigger yet.

I have been mining since about November of last year and have gotten ~0.12XMR for my efforts. Sure its not much, but i did obtain it permissionlessly. I also have not had 8khs the whole time. Most of that time was with 2khs. Most of that 0.12XMR has been earned in the last 3 months since getting to 8khs.

@shortwavesurfer even distributed computing is permissionless but differently from what you're talking of there are several tens of thousands people less on the world community grid using the boinc network for scientific, environmental and medical calculations

I assume you're mining in a pool? If so, may I ask which one you're using? Definitely not a small reward in my opinion, this would be of use to me, especially since I have servers and SBCs just sitting there doing nothing. Might be worth getting them setup.

I am using monerod.org because i am not contributing to centralization by using one of the large pools like supportxmr but am still getting regular payouts.

Was looking for something like this! I didn't want to contribute to one of the massive pools but was having a hard time finding a good pool to use. Thank you very much! Do you have an XMR Address that you could share? I'd like to send a micropayment your way as a thanks!
