Not sure I'd really call this an "enlightened time."
Relative to the 1940s, it is.
I guess it depends on the lense. Accepting various sexually? Sure. Our politics and the general state of things? I wouldn't describe us that way.
Do you know what was going on in the first half of the 1940s??
