That means your vacations aren't long enough. I tend to start getting the feeling of wanting to be productive about 2.5 weeks into any long vacation. Start with 3 weeks and then take off even more next time if it didn't work
I was off for 6 weeks and it didn't happen. I've got endless productive things to do at home before work ever becomes a consideration.
To me, that sounds like you need to take the time to do your home projects first and then take the vacation. I don't know what would work best for you, but for me it would be taking another 6 week break. I'd spend the first 3 weeks doing the home tasks, and the next 3 on the vacation
Bro some people just don't want to work without it directly benefitting them outside of money.
I'll grow/hunt my own food. I'll cut my own wood. I'll put in all the effort for things that directly benefit me.
But going to a job where the majority of my efforts benefit someone who puts in maybe 1/10th the effort to the point they make 10x my wage is just torture.
I get it, capitalism fucking sucks. We're talking coping mechanisms for taking breaks from the struggle though, and I'm just describing what works for me. There's no guarantee that the things that work for me will work for everyone. I just think people work too much and should take breaks whenever they're able.
You should try it, long vacations are awesome
Wish I had the vacation days to try. Partner only has 2 weeks with no roll over. Plus Xmas and new years comes out of the 2 weeks. Absolute heresy.
One of my tricks to extend vacation time on a PTO budget is to alternate the days between paid and unpaid, usually 3 days a week instead of the typical 5. 2 weeks can get extended to at least 3 by alternating. My approach is a hold over from working retail, where we had no PTO. The idea is that I wouldn't be getting paid anyways, so I shore up the budget before vacation so the shortfall payday doesn't create too much disruption
An Interesting strategy. I'm too afraid to try that. Management tends to take out people gaming the system during layoff seasons. This is why we need Unions! Servitors rise up!
A lot of people just don't want to work. Jobs suck. Heck, I like my job. It's a good job. it pays well, it's not stressful, I've automated the tedium,no get plenty of vacation time. Give me the option to not go back and id take it faster than you can blink.
I could vacation for 6 months and I would just appreciate the vacation, travel, and free time more and more. I still wouldn't want to go back to a job.
