Republicans always claim to work for the common man while also championing policies that hurt them.

Both sides do, but yes, the GoP does so with such frequency that it truly does require either true wealth or an undereducated mindset to vote for them. And its often as simple as convincing someone they are/almost are/ or can be, apart of the former. The amount of cash flow alone required for the GoP policies to benefit someone and justify their vote, long term, is obscene.
