Ate quite a bit of raw pineapple today. Tongue felt funny and tingly afterwards.

Still not very comfortable, like I burnt it.

Pineapple (raw) has a LOT of enzymes in it - which is why you can't set raw pineapple in jelly cos the enzymes denature the proteins in the jelly. Also, its a bromeliad, and a very 'primitive' plant, so has evolved a lot of chemical defenses. That burning/tingling sensation also means that the pineapple wasn't quite ripe enough. I get this reaction too, but not everyone does. Not my favorite fruit. EDIT: same thing with monstera fruits - the little black bits can seriously sting if not scraped off.
