Title. What's the best game you've played or experienced on your Steam Deck and not your traditional console or computer?

Something about playing hand held and on the go is magical and was wondering your favorite games you've played exclusively on this device!

This company is insufferably stupid. The DRM and requirement of their launcher to play their games is shooting themselves in the foot. And rightly so because they keep making stupid decisions left and right. I'm so frustrated about how crap Black Flag plays on the steam deck. How its impossible to play AC2 and Brotherhood on the deck. IT'S INSANE!!!!

Original Post: Here

Yesterday afternoon I received the replacement battery for my 512GB LCD Steam Deck.

It took me roughly 1.5 hours to remove the original battery and the new one installed. Now, uninstalling the original battery is a pain due to the adhesive...so you just have to take your time with a heat gun. Once removed, then you work away the remaning adhesive in the deck which was really tedious.

Once I had it all cleaned up, I installed the new battery which was relatively easy and straight forward following by reassembling everything. And then I followed the instructions iFixit provided to recalibrate the battery.

I let the Steam Deck sit and charge to 100%. Then you're instructed to let it charge for an additional two hours...I gave it three. By this time I was ready for bed so I started the Spider-man install and called it a night....leaving the Steam Deck charging.

The next step is to use the Steam Deck until it shuts off due to low battery. Given I had to work (from home), I started the install for Forza Horizon 5 which it transferred from my PC to the Deck.

All in all, the Steam Deck lasted 5.5 hours and completed the Forza Install. Note, I didn't do any gaming but the battery was already impressing me...more importantly, the Steam Deck was no longer presenting the battery issues it was having.

The last step is to simply plug the charger to the Steam Deck and let it charge to 100% uninterrupted. Which I did.

All steps followed exactly and now it was time for a true test. I had to get my allergy shot this evening and that requires sitting around for 30 minutes post injection to see if I'm going to die...per usual. A perfect opportunity.

I'm thrilled to report I played Mortal Kombat 1 and Forza Horizon 5 for a solid 35 minutes and the battery dropped to 70% in that time frame. I'm more than happy with that and my Steam Deck is playable once again and not a paper weight.

** I have more pictures, but this subreddit limits me to one. :-P

Metaphor seems like it COULD be the perfect SD game, but I saw the performance has been quite varied during the demo phase. Now that Metaphor is officially out today, how are you all doing with performance?

Are we at least pulling off a lock 30 or 40fps with decent fidelity?

PS, I know some folks have posted their basic setting changes. But if anyone could post their full setting details for easy reference, that would be great. Thanks!

I've noticed that different people have different power on/off behaviors. I turn the Steam Deck on, play for a couple of hours, and completely shut it down again. I only use the suspend feature when I have to pause a game for a few minutes to hours, but I am definitely gonna continue playing. Do you shut your Steam Deck down completely after each gaming session or do you just put it into energy saving mode?
