Hi, Does anyone have a solution for this problem: I use the remarkable to view sheet music. I also take extensive notes during practice. I would ideally like to just point the device at a folder on my NAS and have it sync once connected to my home wifi, in both directions (new pdfs from the NAS get copied to the RM, notes taken during practice get copied to the NAS). If there is no solution for that, maybe I could use a PC as a sort of "middle man" and sync it when the RM gets connected to the PC? If that doesn't work either, can this maybe be done via the dropbox intergration? Obviously I need to install additional software, at least for solutions 1&2. I'm not scared of the command line, so any solutions involving that and maybe even a bit of bash scripting are totally welcome.

Continue to be amazed about the updates that @remarkable pushes out - reading my mind.

Kind of disappointed that it just won't turn on after moving. It was powered off for about 6 months. So that might have something to do with it.

I ordered a new replacement battery from AliExpress, it should arrive in 2 months. But if people know some magic, I'm happy to try it

I finally bought myself and my wife the remarkable 2 last Friday (two separate orders on two separate referral codes thank you kind redditors) I had the confirmation email but nothing since - anyone know the current shipping times for uk orders?

I’ve picked up the kindle scribe pen and 3rd party cases from Amazon thanks to recommendations from the sub, saving a ton on the price.

Is there a way to send a notebook to another RM user as vector data (with editable strokes)?

Use case: I've created a page full of hand-drawn icons that I'd like to share with my son-in-law so he can copy/paste them in his notes. I was hoping there's a way I could ssh/scp a file somewhere to get the "raw" data, but I suspect it's not that simple.

I'm sure this has been discussed many times on reddit.

Before you flame me for bringing this up yet again, I appreciate it's not an "apples for apples" comparison.

However, I am interested in hearing from folk that own both, i.e. a remarkable 2 and a Scribe for Paperwhite.

What do you like about one compared to the other? How does the writing/ drawing compare against both devices? Which user interface do you prefer?

Finally, if you do own both, I have a difficult question... "If I had to take one away from you, which would you keep?"

Hey guys, how do you cut and paste items from the remarkable tablet that are on a PDF like your scrawl some stuff i’ll do it and you would’ve converted to text because your handwriting is terrible. How do you just drop it right back into the same PDF?

I've got the remarkable 2 and love it but can't justify the price of the cases on their website.

I went through this subreddit and found a few that stuck out and noted that most recommended ones that do no have magnetic covers only spines - I found this one: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B097BYVJ7C?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

While it's a nice cover I find it still kind of messes with the screen - in some spots I noticed a more pronounced misalignment of the marker tip to the screen so it would write 2-3 mm to the left of it the marker tip. Has anyone had this?

In emailing remarkable they recommended:

"This appears to be a calibration issue on your device, a hard shutdown may fix the issue: Hold down the power button for 15 seconds. You won’t see a response from the screen, but it will force your reMarkable to shut down. Let go of the power button and wait a few seconds. Hold the power button again for about two seconds, to turn it back on. In addition to, we cannot guarantee that it is the solution, but you can try to swipe your marker horizontally across the surface of the screen of your reMarkable device to demagnetized it. Please tell us how it goes.

Furthermore, this problem can sometimes occur and is usually caused by the marker tip not being fully connected to the electronic pressure sensors on the inside.

I recommend that you take out the marker tip and then reinsert it carefully, but firmly. When inserting a new tip, make sure you put it nice and straight, and as far down as possible.

If that doesn't do the trick, then try replacing the marker tip and then restarting your device."

I have done this but it slowly returned, I think perhaps it might be the case but I am going to try and use it without it and see.

Does anyone use it without a case? How do you stop your marker going for a walk in your bag? Does anyone use a notebook sleeve for theirs?

Is there a way to move notebooks to a different folder on the device itself, where it won't be visible on the "general notebook selection" page? Just trying to clean up the clutter, without actually removing notes (that I do still refer to, from time to time) from the device, and not having to rely on yet, another device (cellphone, that's not always on me 100% of the time) to pull peripheral notes, or references from.

Okay so I have an unusual problem:

I have the reMarkable tablet 2 for two years now and everything worked perfectly fine so far (although there were some functions missing, but they're correcting them little by little as already discussed in this sub).

But three or four days ago there appeared a new message on the energy saving screen where the version or update messages were: "Please go fuck yourself". What is happening at the reMarkable IT section?

Is anyone else encountering this issue?

Hi All,

I had the chance to use a reMarkable 1 and the handwriting recognition (in capital letters not even in cursive) was "bad" to be honest...

Has things improved with reMarkable 2? The possibility to convert handwritten notes into text would be the top reason to purchase this device!

Interested in hearing from the community here

Thanks!

I have tried to find a way to just dump app of my remarkable folders and files - maybe 500-1000 files.

I have given up on the platform but want to keep the files, basic PDF is fine -but all I am finding is processed for 1 by 1 movement - nothing that lets me just look ay a folder and make a copy of all of the contents.

So when my (rM2) tablet is low on battery, I charge it overnight. And when I unplug it in the morning, it's 90% charged. If I plug it again, then it goes up to 100%, but never by itself. It aways stops at 90. Is anyone else experiencing this? Or am I missing something? It's only few months old and it's been doing it since the beginning. Appreciate any replies!

I’m an author and used the Freewrite Traveler for distraction-free, easily portable drafting. My Traveler unfortunately had a recurring key issue after 2.5 years and essentially stopped working; I’m considering replacing it with the Remarkable 2 + Type Folio. Curious how other writers who have used both devices feel about them? Thanks in advance!

hello everyone!

I'm thinking on buying a remarkable, but I have doubts about how easy is the transition from paper to e-ink, since I'm too used to take notes in a physical way.

How was your experience? how smooth was the switch?

I am also thinking of buying the case with the keyboard, but the price is really high. For those who already have it, do you really use it? or would you recommend me to wait and buy it after trying the remarkable one?

I look forward to your opinions and thank you very much!

Hello community. I am having big time issues with the highlights I have done on remarkable 2 trying to get the highlights out of the file. It seems to be a very frustrating process when, in theory is a easy process. I use reaswise/reader to work on files and any other PDF/ebook anything gets added and properly extracted. Not this way with files from remarkable because it only apply color to the highlights (I guess not metadata of any kind) and Readwise Parser can't read it. Is there a way to implement a possible workflow, a bright future!! btw remarkable and Readwise or a proper way to extract the information satisfactory? I have been trying things but I beg people from remarkable to give us some lights on this. Thanks

🚫⚠️ ATTENTION ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS: STAY AWAY FROM REMARKABLE ⚠️🚫

Hey fellow Redditors,

I've never felt compelled to write a negative review until now, but my experience with the Remarkable tablet has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel obligated to share my story to save others from a similar fate.

I purchased the Remarkable device around two years ago, and it's been a series of disappointments and frustrations ever since. The issues began with the device's inability to support Chinese fonts, a critical detail that was conveniently omitted during the purchase process. Despite reporting this flaw multiple times, Remarkable did nothing to address it.

Fast forward to recent weeks when the device's synchronization became impractical, leaving me with a device that was essentially useless. I decided to reach out to Remarkable support, and the nightmare escalated from there. The return process for the faulty device was unnecessarily complicated, involving a long drive to print documents.

Upon receiving the replacement, I encountered the same problems within a month. After diligently following all the steps provided by their support team, the only response I received was blaming the pairing issue on the installation of Chinese fonts. Ridiculous, right? I was never informed that installing fonts could render the device useless.

The frustration, time, and energy wasted on this device are beyond measure. I've tried to communicate directly with the Remarkable team, but my pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The lack of acknowledgment and support is unacceptable.

I'm turning to the Reddit community to share my experience and to urge anyone considering a Remarkable purchase to think twice. The lack of transparency, poor customer service, and a defective product make this a regrettable investment.

Save yourself the headache and consider other options. I wish I had.

Stay informed, stay away from Remarkable.

Hi all, looking to purchase the remarkable 2 for my fiancé. He is a student and works on numerous business projects and has expressed interest in a digital note taking tool to streamline, organize, and transcribe notes from handwriting to digital. Was curious the current feedback on remarkable 2 vs the kindle scribe ? He does not care about apps and kindle books as it would solely be for writing notes for personal/work/school to replace notebooks and typing as often as he does. Is the writing feel similar to a notebook? He did not like writing on his iPad as it felt unnatural.

Any guidance appreciated!

Hi! I want to buy the remarkable for my wife. She takes a lot of notes (handwritten) and then need to put these into an online secured platform (she’s a psychologist). She’s already an Apple user (laptop and phone) and thinks it would be an easier process to go with the Ipad.

I’ve only heard great things about Remarkable, but she does have a point: she’s already (locked) with Apple products. It’s a plug and play environment. The marketing stuff from Remarkable seems to focus on the lack of distractions (ok… ). That’s not convincing her. I think the “paper feel” and handwritten-to-text are the best-known selling points, but it’s hard to understand if you can’t try one in a store.

What am I missing? Should she really go with Apple (again)?

Thanks!

So far the info I'm seeing is from remarkable site and the way they word it doesnt answer the real question (like they're trying to hide something). I dont think I'll keep it if I cant use it without paying a monthly fee.

Basically I need to be able to transfer files (both directions) in a couple different ways. I need to be able to get files to and from Google drive for cloud storage purposes and would be nice If i could ultimately get files into a git repo on gitlab (even if it means more than one step to get it there). Also it would be nice if i could connect via ssh through the command line on my laptop (running ubuntu linux) to transfer files using the laptop.

Should I send this thing back or is it possible to do these things without a remarkable connect account?
