Decided to make this community for the game I love to help see it grow here. I currently intend for this community to encompass all things Destiny, including Destiny 1 and 2, but we'll see how things go and adjust from there.

A few rules are located within the sidebar, as well as some community resources, creators, and other Lemmy communities.

Until an automated solution is found, weekly and daily reset information can be found here at D2 Checklist, also linked in the sidebar, unless myself or other members create reset posts, TWID posts, etc. Go share this community around and try to help grow it!

Feel free to make suggestions for the community here as well. All input is welcomed!

For new Lemmy users, here is a a quick guide to Lemmy. This guide is for lemmy.world, the instance we're located in, but the basics of how Lemmy works applies to any instance.

I know there are many many posts about FotL 2024 and all the issues but was wondering what the Lemmy community thought about it?

I'll go first and spout the frequent criticism of no MM for expert difficulty. I don't understand these decisions, I'm in the everything should have MM and players can opt-out if they like.

Time to look at the reprised GoS weapons. These have been in long need of an update and are the only new craftable weapons this season. Most of these guns had crap perks on them but were otherwise good. I also think a lot of people hate that raid so you don't see them a lot.

Origin Trait: Photoinhibition - Deals bonus damage to shields and targets with overshields. Breaking a shield disorients combatants. Breaking a matching shield also disorients nearby combatants.

Accrued Redemption:

  • Kinetic Precision Bow
  • PVE Rolls
    • Archer's Tempo/Successful Warmup + Kinetic Tremors/Firefly/Explosive Head
  • PVP Rolls
    • Archer's Tempo/Successful Warmup/To The Pain/Killing Wind + Kinetic Tremors/Firefly/Explosive Head
  • Its a bow with good perks. I'm still not a bow guy so IDK if I personally care.

Sacred Provenance:

  • Kinetic Aggressive Burst Pulse Rifle
  • PVE Rolls
    • Rapid Hit + Kinetic Tremors/One for All
  • PVP Rolls
    • Rapid Hit/Killing Wind/Heating Up/Steady Hands + Kinetic Tremors/Kill Clip/Headseeker
  • I remember this gun being exceptionally good with Headseeker back when it came out. It's got some pretty obvious good combos and is one of the few guns I'd actually want to get from the raid.

Reckless Oracle:

  • Void 720 RPM AR
  • PVE Rolls
    • Destabilizing Rounds/Demolitionist/Subsistence + Paracausal Affinity/One for All/Repulsor Brace
  • PVP Rolls
    • Tap the Trigger/Keep Away/Killing Wind + Kill Clip/Dynamic Sway Reduction
  • This is a really good AR that I think flew under the radar for a lot of people because it had crap perks before. Shame it doesn't get Onslaught or Rampage.

Zealot's Reward:

  • Void Rapid Fire Fusion Rifle
  • PVE Rolls
    • Subsistence/Auto Loading Holster/Destabilizing Rounds + Reservoir Burs/Controlled Burst/Rampage/One for All
  • PVP Rolls
    • Under Pressure + Kick Start/Closing Time
  • Another good weapon that maybe had like one good roll? I would see it in Crucible occasionally.
  • Looks like this one will be a really good PVE weapon with lots of options.

Prophet of Doom:

  • Arc Precision Pellet Shotgun
  • PVE Rolls
    • This thing is stacked in the first column. I think all the perks are workable in PVE so I'd take a look at it in game or on light.gg. In the second column the only perks I wouldn't take for PVE are Barrel Constrictor or Closing Time
  • PVP Rolls
    • Threat Detector/Slideways + Opening Shot/Closing Time
  • I loved this shotgun when it came out and it was one of the only guns I ever got from that raid that I actually used consistently.
  • Precision Frames are probably still the best SG in the Crucible but this thing has some good PVE rolls too.

Omniscient Eye:

  • Solar Rapid Fire Frame Sniper
  • It's a rapid fire sniper and it's only good DPS combo is Fourth Times the Charm + Precision Instrument.
  • Until Snipers are really good at DPS again (outside a few outliers) I'm not going to give a crap about this one.

Ancient Gospel:

  • Void 140 RPM HC
  • PVE Rolls
    • Rampage/Air Trigger/Destabilizing Rounds/Rapid Hit + Kill Clip/Explosive Payload
  • PVP Rolls
    • Rampage/Air Trigger/Rapid Hit/Eye of the Storm + Kill Clip/To The Pain/Rangefinder/Closing Time/Harmony
  • Looks like we got Kindled Orchid back (kind of).
  • It's got some interesting rolls but HCs are a dime a dozen now. Rampage Kill Clip might tear it up in low level content or 6v6.

Taking a look at the new episodic weapons today. I'm not sure which of these are currently available and which ones are coming later in the Episode.** You can craft Purple Tonics to focus drop specific weapons from this set. **

Origin Trait: Dark Ether Reaper - Final Blows create dark ether charges. Charges can be shot or detonate after a period of time. Detonating a charge reloads the weapon from reserves

New Perks:

  • Rimestealer - Destroying a Stasis Crystal or defeating a frozen target with this weapon grants a stack of Frost Armor
  • Envious Arsenal - Dealing damage with both other weapons before readying this weapon reloads it from reserves.
  • Lone Wolf - Slightly improves aim assist, ADS, and AE. Improves the effect when no allies are near.
  • Closing Time - Improve Range, Accuracy, and Handling as the magazine gets lower.
  • Jolting Feedback - Repeatedly Dealing damage inflicts Jolt.
  • Withering Gaze - Aiming without firing grants the next shot the ability to weaken the target.

Liturgy:

  • Double Fire Stasis Breach GL
  • PVE Rolls
    • Slideways/Rimestealer/Envious Aresenal + Harmony/Chill Clip/Chain Reaction.
  • This is the second dual fire GL we've ever gotten.
  • Not really interested in this for PVP. The two grenades are pretty small and fire in a fork pattern so it would be hard to hit a guardian with them.
  • This seems like an okay weapon but might be outclassed by the Stasis GL we got in the last Episode IMO.

Exuviae:

  • 120 RPM Stasis HC
  • PVE Rolls
    • Rimestealer + Headstone
  • PVP Rolls
    • Keep Away/To The Pain/ Encore + Explosive Payload
  • Cool Guy did a video on the PVE roll for this weapon already. Basically you have near 100% uptime on Frost Armor with that combo.
  • It's got a few decent dueling rolls for PVP. I'm not sure how HCs are doing in Crucible now after the range adjustments a while back though.
  • I believe this is the first Stasis 120rpm HC we've had.

Red Tape:

  • Stasis 200 RPM Scout Rifle
  • PVE Rolls
    • Rimestealer + Headstone
  • PVP Rolls
    • Keep Away/Closing Time + Explosive Payload/Rampage/High Impact Reserves
  • Another weapon with the free Frost Armor combo.
  • 200 RPM scouts usually do okay in PVP. I'm interested to see how Closing Time fits in the meta.
  • Some of those PVP combos could also work in PVE.

Vantage Point:

  • Arc Adaptive Frame Pulse Rifle
  • PVE Rolls
    • Stats for All/Eddy Current/Keep Away + Voltshot/Jolting Feedback
  • PVP Rolls
    • Keep Away + Headseeker
  • So light.gg says this gun cannot roll with Voltshot but you 100% get a SFA/VS roll from Eido towards the beginning of the quest line. Not sure what that's about.
  • Jolting Feedback sounds kind of broken if the Jolt is applied quickly. Sounds like Voltshot with less steps.

Scavenger's Fate:

  • Void Precision Pellet Shotgun
  • PVE Rolls
    • Repulsor Brace/Feeding Frenzy + Desperate Measures/Surrounded/Destabilizing Rounds
  • PVP Rolls
    • Slideshot + Closing Time/Surrounded
  • Depending on how good Closing Time is those PVP rolls look to be spicy.
  • Shotguns in PVP are still very meh and I've got other void SGs that can do what this one does.

Sovereignty:

  • Adaptive Void Sniper
  • PVE Rolls
    • Demolitionist + Firing Line/Withering Gaze
  • PVP Rolls
    • No Distractions/Discord/Steady Hands + Box Breathing/
  • Withering Gaze seems useful for DPS rotations.
  • In PVP this is the hard scoper's sniper. I'm still not sure it's worth taking over something with Moving Target. In PVP if you're sniping you need to be making headshots and Moving Target really helps with that.

Noxious Vetiver:

  • Arc 600 RPM Precision SMG
  • PVE Rolls
    • Loose Change + Voltshot/Jolting Feedback
  • PVP Rolls
    • Heating Up/To The Pain + Desperate Measures/Rampage/Target Lock
  • Slim pickings for reload perks to combine with Voltshot and nothing to really combine well with Jolting Feedback?
  • PVP options are just okay. I don't see a reason to use this over your current favorite SMG.

Bitter/Sweet:

  • Arc Adaptive Heavy GL
  • PVE Rolls
    • Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch/Cascade Point
  • Envious Arsenal is actually the perfect perk to pair with either Bait and Switch or Cascade Point as for both of those you have to use your other weapons to trigger the perk.
  • With GLs being hot this Episode this probably one to farm for.

Heretic's Fervor:

  • Stasis Aggressive Rocket Launcher
  • PVE Rolls
    • Auto Loading Holster/Tracking Module/Field Prep/Slideshot(?) + Explosive Light/Harmony/Chill Clip/Bipod(?)/Vorpal
  • Take your pick of combos here. I'm not actually sure how good Bipod is after they buffed it a while ago.
  • Slideshot might be interesting? I worry that would cause a lot of chaos during a DPS phase. Maybe for solo play.
  • For PVP it does have quickdraw in the first column but I think rockets don't really need help from ANY perk in PVP.

The Season of the Splicer weapons are returning this Episode as random rolls. These guns were some all time bangers that unfortunately missed out on crafting and origin perks by just a few months. Going to look at rolls and break down what's good on each weapon.

Origin Trait: Splicer Surge - Reloading this weapon after dealing damage grants a stacking bonus to reload speed and handling until stowed.

Chroma Rush:

  • Kinetic 720 RPM AR
  • PVE Rolls
    • Subsistence + Rampage/Kinetic Tremors/Target Lock
  • PVP Rolls
    • Heating Up/Dynamic Sway + Tap the Trigger/Kill Clip/Rampage/Target Lock
  • This weapon is easily one of the best ARs that Destiny has ever had. So glad it's returning.

Ignition Code:

  • Kinetic Breach GL
  • PVE Rolls
    • Ambitious Assassin + Reverberation/Vorpal
  • NGL I only see this as a PVE weapon. You'll likely want it with Disorienting Rounds for utility or Spike Grenades for DMG.

Gridskipper:

  • Void Rapid Fire Pulse Rifle
  • PVE Rolls:
    • Repulsor Brace + Destabilizing
    • Perpetual Motion + Frenzy (?)
  • PVP Rolls:
    • Perpetual Motion/Zen Moment/Lone Wolf/Killing Wind + Headseeker/Elemental Capacitor.
  • NEW PERK: Lone Wolf - Slightly increases aim assist, ADS, and AE. Inceases when no allies are near.
  • This gun used to be a PVP monster. Though it lost Heating Up in this iteration it still has the god roll of Zen Moment + Headseeker.

Sojourner's Tale:

  • Solar Slug Shotgun
  • PVE Rolls:
    • Heal Clip + Incandescent
    • Auto Loading Holster + Harmony
  • PVP Rolls:
    • Moving Target + Opening Shot
  • Heal Clip on a Shotgun might be interesting since it should proc every time you load a shell in?
  • MT + OS is the only real PVP roll I'd consider for obvious reasons.

It's the Dungeon Exotic. Not as busted as it once was but we'll see.

TL;DR:

  • Stats are no longer tiered every 10 points
  • Stat cap increased to 200
  • Points over 100 will add additional effects
  • Legendary armor will have a stat archetype
  • Some stats are changing to be more useful. Still in development.
    • Ex. "Discipline" is becoming "Grenade".
    • 0-100 has same effect of decreasing cooldown
    • 101-200 increases chance of getting an extra grenade charge when cooldown is up.
  • Set bonuses are being added.
    • Ex. 2 pieces of Tex Mechanica armor increase hipfire
    • 4 pieces of Tex Mechanica buffs all TM guns.
  • Current Legendary armor is basically getting sunset. Stat values will not change for the most part unless balancing is needed for new stats.
    • Doesn't sound like old armor will be able to roll above what it's current stat is or be able to be brought up to the new system.
  • Exotic armor is getting a separate rework to bring it up to par with the new legendary armor but this will not be happening at the same time.

Combatant Modifiers

  • Enemies can spawn with new abilities randomly during an activity.
    • Ex. Killing an enemy with a certain buff causes all other enemies to enrage.
    • Ex. Putting a certain enemy to a health threshold causes them to start a detonation countdown. They must be killed or they send out an AOE blast.
  • Additional buffs to players coming they don't show in this article.

Raids and Dungeons

  • First expansion of the year has a new raid
  • Major update will change up the new raid
  • Second expansion will have a Dungeon
  • Second Major update will have a Pantheon-like activity.
  • Raids can now have player selected Feats. The more feats you have enabled, the better the rewards.
  • Dungeons will no longer require buying keys
