How did you deal with abusive/neglectful family members when their health started to deteriorate and they needed help?

I'm a little confused about how the upvote/downvote system works as related to your reputation on KBin. Can someone explain?

I've watched the Oversimplified Video and there was a bit about Wilmer McClean.

And the best part is, it was actually true!

Here let me copy and paste something from the internet

"The Battle of Bull Run, one of the first battles of the US Civil War, occurred on and around Wilmer McClean's farm in Northern Virginia. Not wanting to live surrounded by war, McClean and his family moved to Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia. The Battle of Appomattox Courthouse was the last significant battle between Union and Confederate forces. The Confederates signed the surrender order in Wilmer's sitting room. It is said that the Civil War started on Wilmer's farm and ended in his sitting room."

Why is my phone screen's orientation failing to stay locked and how do I fix it?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A71 5G. This usually only happens a few times a week, but my phone seems to be very confused by kbin. I have to hold it vertically or it will switch to landscape orientation every single time. It's annoying. Any ideas?

Thank you all in advance!

When the little "active users" photos rotate, I begin to feel I'm a cliche, as it seems like solidly 50% of you look the same.

How do I block top level domains on kbin? For example, I only speak English so I would like to block *.de.

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered many times, but I can't seem to find the info.

My naive understanding is that a given community lives on a certain server. For example, this post is at lemmy.ml: https://kbin.social/m/asklemmy@lemmy.ml/t/107757/Is-anybody-else-more-active-here-then-they-were-on

Then, I figured that when I visit that post from kbin.social, I figured it would pull the comments from the lemmy.ml community and that no matter where you view a post, the comments would (eventually) be identical. However, the comments are very different at https://lemmy.world/post/746839 which makes me think that I have a pretty fundamental misunderstanding with how things work.

Anyone know how to see an instances list on Kbin? On any Lemmy instance, you can find a link at the bottom of the page that shows you who they're federated with and who they've defederated from. I can't find one here on Kbin.social. I only see the mod log.

For me, this is the injection of anesthesia at my latest consultation at the dentist, it was so painful that i screamed to him. Anesthesia is rarely a time of pleasure, but damn, it has never been so painful.

According to this chart I’m going to sound like a beta male if I don’t buy it.

I’m using kbin on mobile web browser and can’t find a way to go back to my feed after clicking on a post. Is there a trick I’m missing?

Just starting to familiarize myself with everything after about a decade at reddit. I understand that you can view content across instances but I'm noticing that both kbin and lemmy have similar (competing?) magazines/communities.

For example @PCGaming and !pcgaming (lemmyworld) but then there is also, @pcgaming, !pcgaming@lemmy.ca, etc.

Do I have to subscribe to all of them? Or are there "official" fediverse communities?

As I said, I'm still trying to figure things out, but subscribing to so many similar communities seems cumbersome for the user and (imo) fragments userbases that are literally talking about the same thing.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe we should have a separate shitty magazine for each subject like Reddit does.

Simple versus question. No wrong answers. What happens in Godzilla vs Superman. No-Prize if someone finds an actual published example.

Brand new here. Been kinda "poking around" the past couple weeks but it's looking more and more like a viable alternative to Reddit. Just wondering if there's a way to display only the magazines I'm subscribed to?

Hey is there any third-party clients for iOS or web apps for Kbin?

I don't actually think that, but wanted to be the first to complain about it.
