I don't believe they add anything to the experience and are actually toxic. If you have a strong opinion on why they should be allowed let me know, I can't think of any.

As an instance admin I can see all the votes. For the one day I had this enabled I can see the downvotes come from non participants and drive-by downvoters. Additionally they all seem like trolls and non vegans

Downvotes are staying off.

I re-enabled them but then turned it back off.
