Is this much different that the piles of prewritten obituaries news outlets have for pretty much every person they would report dying?

[–] Ogoshi@feddit.uk 27 points 1 year ago

I was thinking much the same. It's shitty, but nothing new

Unironically, it looks like today is your first day on YT, OP.

This BS happens on YT all the time unfortunately.

The news also make stories right away, so what matters is whether it's good and thoughtful, not if it is very soon after the death. But I doubt these are either of those things.

[–] tenitchyfingers@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Wait she died?

[–] Pea666@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks for providing them with free publicity!

They have a few million subs. Do you honestly think me having their name displayed makes any difference? I want to highlight this issue without having to dance around it by not naming names.

And the sad thing is, it happens on YT all the time when someone dies

What do you expect. You can just read a few news articles, summarize what you've read in a few hundred words in a Microsoft word document, type their name into YouTube so you can find footage to edit into your video. All this can probably be done within a couple of hours of the news of Sinead O'connor's death breaking. Easy to make and guaranteed views.

ChatGPT, what's going on with Sinead O'Connor's son?

What did happen to the band aqua?

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

I hear they're still trying to get Doctor Jones to wake up now.

I have a feeling that top video is also just plagiarising Todd's video on the topic.

[–] Resol@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

This unfortunately reminds me of JayStation.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

This is why I mostly just watch old TV shows and movies on YouTube.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

It’s YouTube. What do you expect? It’s the most popular video platform that everyone seems to despise.

Which make’s absolutely no sense at all.

Welcome to the world of today. Someone else’s death, is someone else’s ‘happiness’ in terms of gaining money, fame or just becoming more populate.

Uuh thanks, that all looks interesting. I'll have to watch that now.
