I've had two girlfriends have life altering injuries on those things...

I used to love them, but they feel like a serious accident waiting to happen

Yeah, I really want to like them, but there's just this whole confluence of different factors that, together, mean that in our current environment and culture I just can't.

I never even noticed they were gone heh

There's scooters everywhere already! Orange ones, purple ones, ones in rivers, ones in trees... Things are pretty much a nuisance along Southbank boardwalk. The constant stream of MAMILs on bikes is bad enough already.

Yeah, Lime (green) were the first ones we got, during the initial trial period. Later in the trial period, we added Neuron (orange). Then when the trial period ended and it went to tender for the official providers, Beam (purple) and Neuron were selected, and Lime missed out.

As for Southbank, there's a mix of different users who use it, but I think some of the fastest riders out for their morning exercise ride, doing an extended River Loop, etc., would benefit enormously from a separated bike path along Grey Street. Remove the parking along there and there's easily enough space for it. The tricky part would be improving the connections onto that bike path at the Goodwill Bridge and through Stanley Place.
