The trek show was too trekky? So we removed the trek so now it's just a show

Well I actually agree upon reading the article. What they had planned was too much, almost Men in Black like.

According to the article they originally had planned to make Guinans bar a secret alien hideout where basically all famous Trek species go when they are covertly visiting earth.

That would have broken canon multiple times in just one move, and it also goes off on a weird human exceptionalism thing that doesn’t fit into Trek. Enterprise did that too but on a more believable level because it was mostly the humans who were overly sure of themselves, not everyone else in the galaxy.

Why the fuck would any spacefaring race be interested in visiting modern day earth, to the point that guinan can make a business of it? We aren’t that special. And the whole season even was about how we are on the wrong ~~trek~~ track for the utopian future, destroying our ecosystem and each other. Can’t see why covert romulan tourists would be visiting that shit.

I could see a 'hiding amongst the primitives' angle working for that actually, but only if they were on the run from their respective governments. Wretched hive of scum and villainy. It would even justify why they all clustered to Guinan instead of everyone setting up their own hidey holes.

You could be a producer!

So that explains why it's the single worst season of Star Trek ever released.

At least the original idea would have been interesting.

Yeah it felt kinda weird watching it, now it makes sense

Well I deem the final result "terrible" and the original concept "even worse."

The only season of Picard worth revisiting is season 3. Thank goodness they brought in a new showrunner for that one.

The third season only worked because they damn well knew bringing back as many of the old actors will help. Salvaging what was left of Season 02 without touching any of it. Same as with Season 01.

What is this you Picard you speak of? There are only two star trek shows on tv right now: Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks.
