I have downloaded version 17.2 that works fine. However, versions 18.0, 18.1.2, 18.1.3, and 18.5 all close when starting up.

I'll add that the 18x versions were downloaded from audionews while the 17x version was downloaded from IPT.

Anybody know of a verifiably working 18x version for windows 11?

These are links to the download. I didn't want to violate the community rules so they are base 64 encoded.

You can google base 64 decoder and enter this text to get the links. cheers.

Have you looked through the Event Viewer logs to see why it's crashing?

Ooh, could you tell me how I could check that?

This will probably explain how to use it better than I can. It's basically the central repository of all the errors that occur on your computer.

Personally, I would open Event Viewer, expand the Software category from the navigation bar on the left (I think that's where 3rd party/non-windows errors are stored, YMMV), and open the DaVinci software to generate an error. Refresh the event Viewer window to see if it captured the crash information.

Unfortunately the information it provides is very technical, so you're probably going to have to do some Google Fu with the results (along with other various pieces of relevant information like 'DaVinci Resolve 18 + Error Code/affected module name/whatnot'). Wish you the best of luck!

Sorry to pry, but what do you need from resolve on Windows (Linux is another bloody matter) that the free version doesn't do?

Like I was a professional colourist for quite some time and have done legit paid jobs on the free version.
