THR's report also comes on the heels of rumors that Ben Affleck himself would be returning as Daredevil for the movie, as well as rumors earlier this spring that James Marsden, Famke Janssen, and Halle Barry would return as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, respectively. These rumors are strictly that--rumors--but Garner's return seems to lend some credence to them potentially being true.

I'm ready for Deadpool to make Catwoman jokes at Storm

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.one 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm wondering how far they can take the references to DC properties.

[–] Prouvaire@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

As long as they're about how terrible DC films are, I suspect Marvel will be okay with it.

Halle Berry played an extremely terrible version of Catwoman.

Oh yeah! Christ that was forgettable. Wasn't Sharon Stone in that? Blargh I'd forgotten all that. THANKS. :P

Affleck is really running his paces in the multiverse lately, huh?

It seems clear that this DP will be a send-up of the recent multiverse insanity, using it to go places that for some goddamned reason no other property wants to - even though none of them have established a good reason why consequences matter if there are an infinite number of everything and everyone.

I just want to see more Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead...

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 6 points 1 year ago

Negasonic Teenage Warhead…. BEST SUPER HERO EVER.

Just recently watched Nine Days, and she is wonderful in it.

why consequences matter if there are an infinite number of everything and everyone.

Because, even if there are infinite versions of me, The only me's death I care about is my own.

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well that's fine for you, but what about when other peoples' lives are at stake? Why bother saving someone when you know there's an equally weighted universe where you fail anyway, and vise versa? There are good philosophical answers to these questions, and I'd like to see multiverse stories grapple with them, now that the novelty of seeing all the actors who played a given role has started to wear a little thin.

Well that’s fine for you, but what about when other peoples’ lives are at stake?

The only me's death I care about is my own.

There are good philosophical answers to these questions, and I’d like to see multiverse stories grapple with them,

I see no difference in the question being asked if the people are in this universe, a different one or multiple.

Are the lives of others worth more than yours? Is the same in both cases.

[–] SwallowsDick@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well that's potentially interesting. Maybe as a cameo, maybe one where she dies

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

It's hard for me to see her as Electra after the Netflix series. I never really took her that seriously in the role in the first place BUT it being Deadpool I'm sure they'll do something entertaining with it.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.one 8 points 1 year ago

It would be funny to bring them back as actors... "Jennifer! I love you! You made X-Men Origins: Wolverine look good! Thank you so much!"

[–] Whiskeyomega@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I actually paid to see Elektra when it came out. Awful film

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

And I like Jennifer Garner. She was fantastic in Alias.

The story was as stupid as Garner was hot in it. That's to say, a lot.

[–] thisisdee@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

All the multiverses! James Marsden is still my favorite Cyclops and he deserves better.

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I agree. Also, he is so good in Jury Duty.

[–] tyrefyre@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He’s also like one of the main guys in sonic

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I haven’t seen those films yet. I’ve heard they good too.
