IMHO knowing one thing is enough: It's Meta. That's enough information to never use it. They're interested in collecting and selling your data. Threads is not the product, the users are.

It's giving serious embrace/extend/extinguish vibes - IG only, links rendered in-app (all the better to track/monetize)
It honestly sounds more of a metaverse echo chamber than a true competitor. It gives me the vibes that the only reason for releasing Threads is to pull people from Twitter in order to track them more efficiently.
As a side note, I can already tell how very annoying this "service" will be when I have to google stuff about threading in programming.
I will never use it but if Threads steals users from Twitter, that will reduce Twitter’s dominance and make it easier for other users to switch to the Fediverse.
Just make sure to defederate Threads from the start.
