I think this bug is scaling problems in the SQL and federation peer networking, 0.17.4 was having the same performance problems. 0.18.0 on lemmy.ml is now showing some error messages better, not getting nginx 500 errors as much as compared to 0.17.4

Error page and unable to load comments or postings for about 15 minutes at the time of this comment.
At the time of this comment, I am not getting errors, but the site is incredibly sluggish in bring up postings, comments, profiles. Federation to peers is also going very slow, taking 4 hours and longer for new comments to appear on Lemmy.world, Beehaw

It is doing much better the past 3 hours. I suspect user activity is much lower based on posts, but it's good it is stable.
