So far all of my experiences with open source RSS feeders have ranged from mediocre to disappointing. Either I have too little control over how the app itself works (Nunti, You Reader) or the interface looks too messy. Feeder looked like a really option but the lack of organization didn't convince me. Are there any other solutions I should try?

Feeder would have been what I suggested. What organization are you looking for? Groupings?

Yeah, groupings and the possibility to sort things out through filters. Plus, a widget would be nice.

Read You is simple, minimalistic, and works well.

Try this: handy News reader on f-droid - fully customisable.

This looks interesting, will check it out later and see if it's my thing or not
