MODERATORS

I noticed that many of the general meme groups have a lot of political posts and thought it would be good to have a community exclusively for posting non-political memes. I hope it can add some levity to everyone's scrolling!

A wiser decision would be to create a political memes community and leave the original one for general topics.

Perhaps, but that is the decision of the moderators of those meme communities. Starting a new meme community is free.

There's already !politicalhumor@lemmy.ml for political memes, sometimes I remind people that some posts would be better there.

OK, let us start reminding peopler about this. But what do mods think about this practice?

Would be awesome. I am trying to stay politically neutral when it comes to humor and amusement. Especially when it is about foreign politics in don't care about. But what about doing it the reverse. Making current memes group political free andcr createt some kind of c/polmeme or something.

That's a decision that would either have to be made by the instance admins or the moderators of the current general meme communities. Absent that, I think a dedicated non-political meme community is a good solution.

The general memes channel on lemmy.ml could be for the ones who don't mind the occasional Marxist-Leninist meme (due to the instance's political nature), but the non-political memes channel can be the place where you can forget about politics for a while.

Ooh. You saw a problem. You solved it.

How do you define what is political? This could help people know what to do :)

For now the community has just a little over ten subscribers and very few posts (besides my own) so I'm content to leave it up to users' judgements. If it gets more popular that may change.
