It looks to me like it has created a mini-laptop and displayed it atop the keyboard of another full-sized laptop. The bismuth is used to decorate the back of the screen on the mini-laptop. Granted some of the spacing is off and the screen is too big for the mini-laptop.

My thought was more that one side of the mini laptop has a keyboard and the other a track pad. You kind of need to be able to use both at once and the screen is typically at one end, not in the center. It sitting on a keyboard is weird but also works for showing the scale so looks cool.

Actually, that would not be a problem for me as I usually use a mouse. As long as the screen swivels around for movie/video time I think that would be cool.
