What explains this sudden growth and the sudden decline of Linux in Ukraine?

Seeing how windows got an equal dip in the same time, I think some version of Windows got erroneously counted as linux. This was fixed in later patches.

I mean, it is a percentage, so something has to go down for something else to go up

afaik stat counter just tracks hits, it doesn't do any work to check for unique users or anything. So a pile of linux boxes made a higher percentage of hits at whatever site this was counting. Something like a DDOS botnet may potentially cause this.
