America chose this guy. That's who the faith question should be aimed at.

It's existentially stupid, the warhawks are already circling. Putting what the DNC did or did not do on comparable magnitudes is copium for a selfish, bigoted, ignorant culture that chose this with ample information.

This happens every time the Democrats lose. The fools come out with their pet grievances claiming the democrats loses because reason. The reason is never the same but always stated as if it has always been the reason. Look at what has been said and compare it to Biden win, much of it can be applied to his run and win and yet these fools make their claims with absolute certainty.

Did you really expect tens of millions of Americans to go and vote for Harris just to prove to people like you that they are not bigoted, or selfish, or whatever?

[–] cranakis@reddthat.com 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

I expected them to go vote against the racist, homophobic, and deeply sexist, fascist.

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well, you need to adjust your expectations.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That's not defending racism, sexism or bigotry. Doesn't sound like it at all!

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm not defending anything, I'm just saying that if you expect people to behave a certain way, and they don't behave that way, you can either continue to expect them to behave that way and be disappointed, or you can change your expectations.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This isn't a child's bad behavior. It's a national problem. Rapists and racists don't get a pass and say "Oh well. We should expect better." They are the problem. They should be handled as a problem.

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They should be handled as a problem.

I don't understand. Handled how?

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Whatever makes them understand their behavior violates the social contract our society has written.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That’s the problem. You cannot just expect people to vote against something. Voter turnout happens when there is something to vote for. It may seem pedantic but look at these election results. And the 2016 results..

[–] cranakis@reddthat.com 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They turned out... for the fascist. To be clear, Liberals are pointing the finger at each other but this is the fault of every idiot that voted for Trump. We all know what he is but they want policies and power at the expense of democracy. History won't remember these ppl well.

Voter turnout happens when there is something to vote for.

They voted for the boot. Fuck America's right wing.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don’t disagree with anything you said; your previous comment as well. I hope it’s a sobering moment for US politics but I’m too cynical at this point to believe that will actually happen (yet)

[–] cranakis@reddthat.com 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The right is drunk at the moment. It's going to take time and awful consequences unfortunately. They may still blame it all on the left. I'll be fighting back.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Yup, and the left will always be blamed in an oligarchy/ plutocracy.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world -4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

The DNC won't save you from them. It's a sunk cost. With all their resources and the power of the government at their back they could not stop authoritarian take over. The people are the only ones that can reverse this and the DNC will be pleading that we just go through the motions one more time. Then just one more time after that.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

and the power of the government at their back they could not stop authoritarian take over.

See, that's the difference between an authoritarian government and a non-authoritarian one. Non-authoritarian governments do not have the full power of the government at their back.

Right, wait till you see what an authoritarian US looks like.

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I understand the DNC made a number of mistakes this year but in my personal opinion all of those mistakes combined did not warrant ten million people skipping the vote to allow a fascist to win and they are squarely to blame for this.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

How can 10 million take the blame for biden not stepping down till the final moments?

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

How can one man take the blame for 10 million people allowing a fascist to win?

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

That one man puts his interests over the interests of 10 million people.

Say, do you think Hitler holds any responsibility for the holocaust?

[–] jjagaimo@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Republicans could have wheeled out a mannequin and it would have won, because republicans vote republican no matter what. Trump didn't beat Kamala. She lost with an impotent campaign built on gaslighting her own voter base.

[–] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com -4 points 3 days ago

Smells like beets and vodka in here

[–] WhereGrapesMayRule@lemmy.world -3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The only way to win today is to appeal to the bigots and morons.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I've seen these bigots, and morons. They are entirely beatable. The fact that you cower to them makes me ashamed of you and people like you.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They are entirely beatable.

Only if the non-fascist forces in the US work together.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

The DNC should not lead that effort. We will be the fool again! To fascism. It's embarrassing.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Now's the time to start working on alternatives, then. We've got four years, or it defaults back to the morons in the DNC.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

For sure. Thanks for hearing me out. In reality this is a decades long fight. We will never wrest away the federal government from the fascists by voting. The faster we exit from the fantasy the better chance we have.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Fascists are never defeated by just voting. Voting is a great method of preventing fascists from getting into power in the first place - something many voters seem to have forgotten this past month.

[–] Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world -2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Trump's political success can be attributed to the Republican party ceding to the will of the people while the Democrats didn't.

Correct. The will to be racist or bully trans people. It cannot be clearer that this is what the bottom 52% of thinkers in this country wants.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Don't make excuses for the Democrats. They fucking failed. Principles that cannot prevent authoritianism aren't principles we can aspire to. We need to be absolute here in that autocracy is a mistake and must be prevented at all cost.

Accusing the Democrats of cheating their primary isn't an excuse by any stretch of the imagination.
