They present a table of RT scores but it isn't quite clear what their criteria is or what the cut-off is - Longlegs, The Substance, Strange Darling, Abigail and A Violent Nature could all be contenders (it is a good year for horror). Godzilla Minus One is technically horror too.

A quick advanced search on IMDb throws up a different list. Nope sneaks in at #25 and The Menu, AQP2 and Prey seem odd oversights.

I would not classify Strange Darling as horror. Definitely a thriller, but not horror.

PS: She better at least get an Oscar nomination.

Felt like grindhouse to me

Exactly what it is.

I'm just using the IMDb classification to avoid my own personal bias.

And yes,I could see it getting a few nominations as it is very well constructed, as well as acted - I felt like you could do an immediate rewatch and get a very different experience once you had a first run through under your belt. That's a very delicate balancing act they pulled off but I think they nailed it.

  1. Late Night With The Night (2024)

Haha

More seriously, a 2020s horror that I feel doesn't get enough love is The Empty Man. Also Possessor was really good.

  1. Late Night With The Night (2024)

Haha

How did I not spot that?

Also Possessor was really good.

It's my favourite of Brandon Cronenberg's so far.

The original article got it wrong lol

Haven’t heard of half of these. “Nope” was awful. “Invisible Man” was just passable. Also the 2020s aren’t even half over. What a strange article.

There are some odd picks - Host, M3GAN and Nope shouldn't really make the top ten.

I actually liked M3GAN. Reminded me of an updated “Child’s Play”/Chucky movie.
