I really like the controller in Divinity 2 and hope it plays the same way.

I left reddit too. I am a fan and like talking about the game with other fans. The community we have are very friendly and helpful. Thanks for the offer but I think I like being just a member here.

Are you familiar with WolfheartFPS? He's my go to streamer for all things BG3 and has some great lore videos.

Yea I watch him too. He was even invited by Larian for their last panel. He hinted that he is playing the release now to review it for us.

Thanks for all the posts

Me and my gf are really excited about the game. We’re hoping it will scratch that multi year long itch that DOS 1 and 2 left in us.

I was replaying Divinity 2 and the quality in that game is fantastic. I always thought the only weak spot of the game is cinematics. And Larian must have saw that too. Can't wait to see them in Baldur's Gate 3.

After three years in early access, Larian Studio's Baldur's Gate 3 is finally getting a retail launch on August 3. In conjunction with its official release, Nvidia has announced that DLSS 2 will come with the game, providing RTX gamers access to Nvidia's performance-enhancing upscaling technology on day 1.
...
One thing you won't find in Baldur's Gate 3, at least not initially, is support for other upscaling solutions like AMD's FSR 2 or Intel's XeSS. But FSR 2 support is at least coming. Yesterday's community update states, "We'll continue to work on implementing FSR 2.0, but that will be closer to September 6." There's no mention of XeSS as yet, though you'd think that with DLSS 2 and FSR 2 already, adding XeSS shouldn't be too hard.

Nice to see Larian support FSR 2 for AMD cards too...eventually.
I have an Nvidia 3080 card and playing on a 4K TV. Hope I can get it looking pretty with DLSS 2.

I'm hoping I can make it look pretty ar 4k with a 4090. I had an old FX CPU and couldn't get decent frames (not surprised). Building the new rig now. Fingers crossed.

What's your build?
I just built a PC in January.

  • ASUS Prime Z690-A LGA
  • Intel Core i7-12700KF
  • CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 5200MHz C40-40-40-77 1.25V
  • ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

I am sure I can manage 4k with Nvidia's DLSS

I gave in and ordered last minute, but ended up with:

  • Asus TUF B650 PLUS WIFI
  • Ryzen 7700X (8 core)
  • Corsair Vengence DDR5 6200MHz 32GB
  • Asus TUF 4090
  • 2x Samsung 980 Pro PCIE 4.0 NVME drives

Besides the graphics, (I was on 2x970 GTX 970), it was the load times that were killing me on a SATA SSD. I'm a save scummer, at least in early access.

I wasn't going to build a new PC for this game. I WASN'T!

Looks sweet. I use my 4k TV as a monitor and play on steam with my Xbox controller. Very comfortable on my sofa.

I bet your system won't even need Nvidia's DLSS. Looks like your PC has the RAW power to max everything and not have to upscale it.

[–] ThayWizGwar@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

That's the hope. I'm using. 4k TV as well, but more as a monitor. I'm going to try a PS controller as well, I've always been a K&M boy, but I can see how it could work with this game. I hate the click and follow.

Let me know if you want to be a mod here, you post more than I do, and I just set it up as part of my effort to get Reddit's claws out of me.

With a 4080, I ran the game at 1440@60 (I locked it) with everything cranked. Didn't use any DLSS, only used DLAA. The game ran so good. Did a stream to YT (1440@60) with AV1, no issues there either.

Sweet. I will see what my Nvidia 3080 can do with it. I am playing it on a 4k TV with 120hz...with my Xbox controller.

When I launched retail it tried making me use DX11, make sure to switch it to Vulcan
