Since he's essentially their coyote-bouncer, it's probably a little of both, like ruggedly ugly-handsome.
Ok are donkeys known for fighting off coyotes or something??? Should I be getting backyard donkeys to protect the neighborhood cats? And how did I go for so many years on the internet just learning this now?

TIL. Also, the blog post claims that donkeys can be seen "picking them [coyote] up by the neck and shaking them wildly: possibly causing trauma that can disable or injure". Woah.
