Especially crazy down here in Florida. The temperature jumped from mid 70's to low 40's just last week. Where I live, there's plenty of people without heat in their homes that are trying everything to stay warm. It's a sad predicament.
I think this is an underappreciated aspect of climate change. It's not that the temperatures are just going to get slightly warmer, it's that we're going to see much more unpredictable weather, and big temperature swings leading to massive disasters.
Agreed. Siberian winds have been hitting us really hard lately. 30-50 years ago in SouthWest FL, it would stay at a steady 50-65 degrees during the winter. Now, we're getting 65-80 during half of the Winter, and 35-50 the rest of the time. It really gets on my nerves when people in temperate climates talk about climate change as if it's this faraway thing that won't affect us for a long time, when those of us near the equator are already feeling the effects.
