Anyone else prefer an alternative app or front end for browsing f-droid ? I personally use Droid-ify for the more modern layout.

I am looking for a good FOSS keyboard with suggestions and the ability to add multiple languages.

I've tried other methods but I keep coming back to this app as a way to visualize and track GPX hiking routes. It's battery respecting, gives me the info I need and nothing more, and it respects my privacy.

Outoftheloop? Quacker and fritter are twitter clients with no sign-in.

I had no idea that fritter dev wasn't going to implement the timeline back again. I was reading the Issues posts and noticed that they recommend that you try quacker, a fork which took upon the quest to fix it.

It's currently only on the Izzyondroid -repo. Though, it failed to install on me, so i got the direct download from github.

If you are new to Fdroid or are looking for the best app recommendations, this is the best overview list of available Fdroid apps that I've found(made by justarandom).

The list is huge and can be daunting.

My quick recs and my most used apps are:

Jerboa, Simple dialer, QKSMS, Fennec Browser, NewPipe, QuickWeather, OSMAnd, Material Files, Simple Gallery, Vanilla Music, VLC, Alarm Klock and XMouse. Games: lichess, gurgle and sgt-puzzles

As above, so i assume most fdroid apps are 32bit 🤷 how does one figure out the apps on their phone if 32 bit or 64bit? Tx 4 reading.

I'd like to rely on Google Play Store less, is there an easy way to get proton apps and keep them updated?

Does any of you experienced issues with repo sync today?

[UPDATE]

Alarm returned. Now works as well as before. Probably did maintenance.

What app do you use or recommend for sharing you location with family and friends? Google Maps can do this, but I'm looking for a non-Google option. Something in the OpenStreetMaps space would be the best. Telegram can also do it, but Telegram's feature is more optimized for short-term sharing, not continuous sharing.

I am using OpenCamera, but would welcome suggestions: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.sourceforge.opencamera/

I was missing auto export of contacts in cvs file in many FOSS contact manager apps. I came across this app, using it with syncthing is working like charm.

Previously, I was using https://www.f-droid.org/packages/org.decsync.cc/ issue was that I could not restore backups.

Moreover, is there something similar for SMS messages?

I'd like to block both, phone calls and SMS messages, when the phone numbers try to impersonate those from real phone number owners.

In my country it's common to get phone calls, and SMS messages, from phone numbers corresponding to real organizations, such as banks and government agencies (particularly those associated to taxes, legal, and so on).

So I´d like something that indicates me the impersonating phone number is no the real one, for both phone calls and SMSs, so I can block those, and also I can block some coming from real orgs I'm not interested in answering, like banks offering vredit cads or health insurance, or things like that.

But I'm looking for something hopefully not sharing information from me, not even statistics. So not sure there's one app or 2 apps on Android, which are FOSS, and hpefully under F-DROID, or with custom F_DROID repos, which is what I prefer...

Thanks !

Highly suggest looking at this if you are interested in using Gemini (protocol) on Android. Very polished, seemingly feature complete. With Ariane gone, might be your best bet - Deedum is good but this has it beat.

And why? Name budget phones also :-)

Cribbage (lemmy.ml)

This might be obscure, but I liked playing cribbage on my phone before I started using fdroid. Is there an ad-free version somewhere?

Hi. I use Joplin and quillnote to make notes on the go. But many times I need then as PDF. On the computer there in no problem but none of these allow me to export as PDF on my phone.

Is there some app that allows me to do this?

I feel like someone tooling with a secure messaging app makes it less...reliable that its secure, despite yanking google play parts out of the code. Thoughts?

349

And also why? Some recommendations? Some app that you think that is not as famous as it should be? Etc etc

Hi. Im very happy right now with smart launcher. But I would like something fully open source. I want something minimal, but that allows me to have desktop pictures, because I make my own wallpapers.

Also it would be good to create folders or apo categories.

Thank you.
