I want to scan my documents and id cards and keep it as pdf. I use my phone camera to do the work. Having filters are appreciated

Any open source Waze competitors?

My ideal app would have crypto rewards for reporting hazards or uploading dashcam footage that you could redeem for discounts at merchants that pay for in app ads. If anyone makes something like this, cut me in on the IPO lol.

How can I backup the list of F-Droid apps I have installed on my phone right now so i can just import that list on another phone and don't have to install each app manually?

I LOVE this app and have it running on several old devices. Their total computational power may not be massive, but every bit helps. Android devices are some of the most efficient devices in terms of compute-per-watt and will blow any laptop or desktop out of the water on this metric.

Researchers use BOINC to distribute massive computational workloads like searching for genes related to cancer (World Community Grid) or finding pulsars (Einstein@home). There are over a dozen BOINC projects so you can pick and choose what to contribute to. You get fun stats about your contributions and some projects will even credit you in their scientific papers.

BOINC live in F-Droid because it's not allowed in the regular play store. This is because it downloads binaries and runs them, which is a big play store no-no. Be careful to remove your battery and/or use the in-app settings to keep temps low to prevent battery swell. I wouldn't run this on my daily phone, but on spare devices it's great! Some of them I have run for years. Removing your case can make a big difference with temps.

Something like this, but it seems not really updated anymore, has some forks tho.

Can anyone recommend one or something similar?

I’m not aiming to track every second spent on every app. But the gray scaling could help me. Or maybe a few seconds of flickering after x time spent on the phone.

Also, do such apps come with concerns about privacy risks?

I just discovered libretube thanks to someone who gave me this link : https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.libretube/

It opens in my default browser, not in froid, and I don't find the app when searching in fdroid.

Is there any way to find the repo from the http link and add it to fdroid ?

or there's any alternative browser using SystemWebview?...I mean foss and easy to update (not manual apk from github) alternative?...I'm fine with fennec but nerd something to isolate webpages where I'm logged in...is native alpha the only solution? Thanks

Thought all the free ones were gone? Well, it isn't pretty, but there is one on F-droid.

If you don't know what App Watcher is, it's an app that allows you to get notified when apps on the Google Play store receive updates even if you don't have them installed.

Hi,

I could not find any photo collage app on F-Droid (including the IzzyOnDroid repo). Do you know of any open source Android app to create a collage of multiple images? I would like to combine two or more images into just one.

Many thanks!

Hello everyone, I recently developed a website called F-Droid Insights, which is a simple website that let you explore F-Droid apps enriched by data coming from external websites such as Github.

F-Droid is amazing and serves as my main source to find Android apps. Unfortunately it can be difficult to discover new apps there, as F-Droid lacks a method to estimate the popularity of a project. F-Droid Insights incorporates repository information (number of stars, number of forks) coming from Github, Gitlab and Codeberg.

A few notes:

  • To create filters (in order to see all apps from the "Games" category or to filter out apps hosted on github) you can use the Custom Search Builder located at the bottom of the page.
  • The first page load can be quite slow on mobile devices, just wait for the page to be completely loaded and it should be fine.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Can anyone recommend a note or any other productivity app which makes use of the Stylus? I looked on FDroid but didn't do a deep dive. I have a passive stylus and a Moto.

Note-taking on the go is something I'm rarely prepared for. @fdroid has Joplin. I've recently changed to it and like it a lot. #FOSS #App #WritingCommunity

Can anyone recommend a good one?

I'd like one that can kinda "save" my progress not only locally. Maybe an app account or something that integrates with a cloud service?

I had an ancient one very early in my smartphone days, but as I lost/had my phone stolen I would lose all my progress and miss the pages of the books I was reading.

Unsure if this the right place to ask, sorry if it's not have just assumed this is for all open source android stuff.

Have been looking at e-os, and read about it being de-googled, which sounds great but I do still need to use some google services (YouTube, yt music, Google SSO etc)

I use 2fa with my Google account and have the pop up for allow/deny when I sign in, think this is the most frictionless 2fa sign in mechanism I've used yet.

Will this still work/be possible using EOS? And/or is there a way to enable select services but not others

It seems there are 2 official F-Droid clients available. org.fdroid.fdroid and org.fdroid.basic. Can someone please tell me what's the difference?

So... Just that. Anything that can integrate as a phone assistant when pressing my headset assistant button to talk and ask to call someone or navigate somewhere?

Hey everyone I am looking for a radio app that can pickup local stations(not over the internet). Does anyone have any recommendations?

So far all of my experiences with open source RSS feeders have ranged from mediocre to disappointing. Either I have too little control over how the app itself works (Nunti, You Reader) or the interface looks too messy. Feeder looked like a really option but the lack of organization didn't convince me. Are there any other solutions I should try?
