"A growing body of work is challenging the view that COVID-19 does not pose a significant threat to most children and young people. It comes amid growing concerns that there could be long-term implications for some young people who have contracted the virus."
Australian children and young people over the past 2 years.
This includes data showing that:
๐น Around 50,000 children aged 0-14 were hospitalised with COVID between 2021-2022.
๐น On average one child was admitted to ICU every day in 2022, totalling 362 admissions among 0-14-year-olds.
๐น Hospitalisation and mortality rates for COVID far exceed those for other respiratory diseases such as influenza and RSV.
