Absolutely agree. Mallorca has so much to offer apart from Palma, and it's a disgrace how they massacred that city (and island). I am happy there are protests now.

I remember back then (it must have been like 2003) it was offered to my parents at a travel agency. I even remembered how they called home to ask my sister and me whether we would like to go since they knew we both were kinda anti Mallorca (since we then also didn't know about the beauty of the other parts). We still agreed because it was a really cheap deal and we were like lower middle class back then, so a good deal's a good deal. I'm still grateful because I would have never travelled to that tourist place by myself, and I would have never been scarred for life by that dildo. I think it was the first time I saw a sex toy in real life. There were still some really cool memories and moments, and even having diarrhea and watching One Piece for a week was pretty chill.

On the topic of t-shirts, I found a kid's shirt saying "sample text" under the drawing of a cat at a flea market yesterday. Not too related to what you mentioned, but I hail that shirt so much and needed to share.

Star damage does incredible things to your skin such as getting rid of old skin layers, but next time try a lactic acid serum for a peeling.

When I was in Mallorca when I was 12 I literally didn't hear a word of Spanish over the course of the 2 week holiday. Ok, granted, I spent 1 week in the hotel room sick and watching One Piece on TV (also in German) but I'd say a whole week in Playa de Mallorca and only hearing perfect German was wild.

Almost as wild as when I opened that plastic bell pepper in a souvenir shop and there was a dildo inside. Like, why. Why would you want to have sex with a bell pepper. Why did they have red ones and green ones but no yellow ones.

I remember a native English speaker correcting my pronunciation of meme to maymay back in like 2015 and I felt so ashamed for pronouncing it meem back then... I didn't have friends who were into memes yet and was very insecure. I think about her often.

Yeah I think I didn't point out the italics stuff because it seemed obvious in my head that this would be like a fake quote. I should have pointed it out. Now a huge bunch of people assume I somehow defend Trump, think his conviction doesn't matter, or think the thought process of a supporter makes sense/is correct. Of course it doesn't/isn't.

I also should not have put three different theses in one comment (the discrepancy between an individual as a moral person and his achievements, Trump supporters thinking - with the help of media - that it's not that big of a deal, and rehabilitation of felons/criminals). It got confusing. Not the best comment I've written in my life.

Anyway, my bad.

Yeah I seem to do that a bit too well I guess. Apart from the last part about rehabilitation of criminals - which I do strongly believe in but which is unrelated to Trump, so it was probably misplaced in the comment - I just tried to answer the question "why do republicans still want to vote for Trump after this" to my best guess, trying to follow their absolutely flawed "logic". Let me be very clear: I do 100% think his conviction in this case is very important and severe and it is not "just an affair" or hush money. This is huge. At least to me.

I think somehow I made the impression that I actually think it's unimportant or not a big deal.

(Also I came to realize that scientific achievements and politics are probably not a good comparison. But then again, probably would fit the logic of an actual Trump supporter.)

I hope it was clear that the paragraph in italics was what I meant a Trump supporter would say, definitely not me. I most certainly don't regard him as a "genuine guy with good intentions for his country".

You have to deliberately choose not to believe in many things to support trump, and that means ignoring laws, the rights for and respect of your fellow humans, science, and many other things.

I 100% agree with you here.

[-] volvoxvsmarla@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago

I absolutely agree. Please don't take my comment above as my actual opinion on Trump. My point is exactly this - for a Trump supporter it is easy to see this as the "hush money case" as you call it and just state it's not that big of a deal even when he's convicted. And the media is very much to blame for that.

I think we have more enlightened and more informed views now than 270 years ago is alls I’m saying.

Bruh with literally every country on the planet turning more fascist by the day that's a bold statement to make

The best part is when they claim that compatibility of family and job is important to them but all that translates to is "we need more childcare institutions". Like, I don't need a place where I can dump my toddler for 9 hours, I need a job where I can work 4 hours, have an ok pay and the prospect of advancing despite being at work for only a couple of hours

I am looking for a term to describe the line of thinking that goes something like "I hate my work, I am sick all the time, I am depressed, I can't find happiness. But I should be happy. Those problems don't matter. All my problems are so insignificant, there are little. They're just some stupid first world problems. I have it good, I have food on the table and a loving family. There are millions of people who have real problems, people living in severe poverty, starving to death, being bombed."

I think about this often, it came up when I was talking with someone with mental health issues and I remember him telling me that this way of thinking has a name/is a common symptom that occurs in people with a specific personality disorder, although I cannot remember what disorder he claimed it was. Also this was more than ten years ago so it might have either changed or my memory of this event changed.
