Haha oh man that sounds infuriating. Of course it could be worse, but def could be better

Fair. Essential items have gone up in price. There are other items that aren’t necessary that could be boycotted.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

That’s ridiculous. Nothing on Amazon lasts very long these days, crazy to raise prices on low quality stuff. Good for you for finding an alternative. I always try to get the cheapest stuff. I need to be better about only getting what I need and not pulling the trigger whenever I think of something I need.

Tricksy onedrives

Haha sarcasm I presume. Boycotting certain restaurants or goods would be effective. I myself get take out more than I should or need to.

Yeah this is catastophizing. Sure it’s bad. Does it mean certain death? No. Is it the quest country to live in? Certainly not. Just stay focused. Find the best job you can, and don’t be a slave to them. It’s business, not family. You’ll make it through. While you’re making some money and have some mental and financial bandwidth, think about your next move. Be patient and try not to panic. It’s going to be okay in the long term.

That’s the spirit! Isn’t that what we pay taxes for?

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Unfortunately, that’s what it’s gonna take. I’m seeing it slightly in the automobile industry.

Haha I unfortunately count in the consumerist masses. Don’t use credit much anymore, but definitely addicted to Amazon Prime.

So annoying. The OneDrive documents folder masquerading as your actual docs folder. Diabolical.

If people pay for the higher prices then it doesn’t matter. The general public would need to boycott or literally not be able to afford the prices of the good. Unfortunately, we all are very poorly disciplined in that regard, myself included.

Not talking about touching the little guys. Talking about something like limiting sales or buys to $1M per day to curb the leverage these big corps have on the market.

Big guys like Berkshire have so much leverage in the market. They can sell a huge chunk of stocks causing chaos and a huge drop in price, then buy low and profit. The stock market isn’t fair to regular investors. You’re at the mercy of these big firms.

The parts that aren’t free are kind of shiny and up close there are little black flecks like mold.

Thrips?

The Fair Representation Act has been re-introduced in Congress. This bold solution can stop gerrymandering and make Congress work for every American.

The Fair Representation Act can solve partisan gerrymandering, make every congressional district competitive, and encourage politicians to represent all of us instead of just their base. It does this by combining three reforms:

  • Multi-member districts. In three- or five-member districts, nearly every voter will elect a candidate they support. Voters like Massachusetts Republicans and Oklahoma Democrats will be represented in Congress. Gerrymandering will become nearly impossible.

  • Ranked choice voting for all U.S. House and Senate elections. RCV frees voters to support their favorite candidates, and encourages candidates to reach out to more voters for second-choice support. When RCV is used in multi-member districts, it is a form of proportional representation.

  • Uniform rules for congressional redistricting

The Fair Representation Act can be passed without a constitutional amendment. It truly has the potential to transform our political system and create a more inclusive and deliberative government which respects and empowers all voices.
