I troll them back by writing out: Liked "Copy-paste-of-your-whole-message"

"Slippery slope" is a common argument but usually flawed. In this case, driving is an extraordinarily regulated privilege and despite that, it still results in massive deaths and permanent life changing injury every year. In the US, car crashes are the number one cause of death for children. It's difficult to draw a line between expanding driving enforcement to gross losses in privacy like many here are envisioning.

It also ignores the benefits to civil rights. Again, I don't know about the UK but in the US, traffic enforcement by police is very unevenly applied. Minorities routinely get their privacy violated on pretexts while cops don't even pay lip service to the rules.

The HOV lane is supposed to look empty. If it was packed full of cars, carpooling wouldn't have any advantage because you wouldn't go any faster.

You can install some app that lets you override the Netflix button. I forget the name but I've set mine to be a mute toggle.

Also, I don't think a narcissist would intentionally and publicly humiliate themselves the way Musk has done (Not a psychologist).

I didn't pay much attention when this was happening. Are there size requirements or something? How does lemmy.ca or sh.itjust.works avoid paying?

Wow, that's a cool little company. Also, "Stealing Tesla's Ideas", ha.

Related to the sibling comment, good ideas are rarely the whole story to a company's success. Execution (and luck) matter.

I'm going to need to read up more on them. The jump from "regular truck drivers who do repairs" to "so we put a locomotive drivetrain in our truck" is too big and I think it's really the key to them getting off the ground.

Hell, I'm going to schedule a parade and fireworks.

I think that would have been a healthier start, to focus attention and generate some liveliness, but people's preconceived notion is "Reddit" so that's where community creation went.

But then we would get every instance with their own meta-community, and it’s just a complication on top of communities and instances.

The trick is to have meta-meta-communities to aggregate the aggregators :)

You're selling Comcast short there. They put in the effort, they should get 1st place. Please have their medal ready somewhere between 6am and 2pm on Tuesday, if they don't cancel.

I don't know how tech savy you are but I selfhost Matrix and almost exclusively use bridges to talk with friends. I feel comfortable breaking e2e on a system I control and the all-in-one-place messaging is pretty sweet, like Pidgin used to be.

If you are already comfortable self-hosting other services, Matrix doesn't really impose any additional complexity IMO and the bridges I use seem to be very stable.
