Some of the apps will struggle with higher ping rates. I have some issues on thunder

The devs actually talked about this in the AMA from a couple of days ago. Sounds like the current plan is to have all federating servers send their entire list of communities to each other on a regular basis.

The other thing that I think is worth mentioning is Lemmy Community Boost which is basically a bot that serves the same purpose.

But where's the need if they can buy an individual's genetic markers for pennies?

[–] spaduf 26 points 9 months ago

I think we've maybe made a mistake in conflating a cease in development with maturity in a more colloquial sense.

Great project! I wish y'all the best

This is funny, but definitely counts as a low-effort comment (See Rule 5).

Don't they already package and sell your genetic data anyway?

There was a fair amount specifically upset that the creators had not decided to focus their efforts on contributing to lemmy directly. I personally think that's silly as it's not hard to find folks who've tried and had a terrible experience.

Followgraph for Mastodon (followgraph.vercel.app)

Followgraph looks up all the people you follow on Mastodon, and then the people they follow. Then it sorts them by the number of mutuals, or otherwise by how popular those accounts are. It then shows the list with Mastodon links to follow them.

What would a largely deterministic society look and behave like? Would it be, as some imagine, a more merciful and just society, or as some others suppose, a veritable wasteland where lawless immorality, cruelty, and hopelessness reign supreme? In this video I hope to answer this contentious question and to bring some clarity to an otherwise esoteric matter.

For this particular work I have taken much from the philosopher Spinoza, the psychologist Robert Sapolsky, and the Neuroscientist/philosopher Sam Harris. I have found their insights to be extremely helpful in clarifying my own thoughts on the matter and I encourage you to read or listen to their thoughts on Determinism and free-will.

Thought this would be interesting given the recent discussion on Robert Sapolsky. If you like this content the PeerTube channel can be followed directly from your Lemmy account at !letstalkphilosophy_channel@tilvids.com

Based on the outcome of this discussion I would like to put together an easily fillable template that folks will use when they submit. What information do y'all think should be included in each post? In the same vein, what information should be in the title versus the post body?

Some things that immediately come to mind:

  • Institution
  • Lecturer
  • University Course Code (e.g. BIO 101)
  • Subject
  • Pre-requisite Knowledge
  • Permalink/Archived Resources
