Yeah, it wasn’t written in a way that would help with public perception or limit opportunities for political spin. Also, it was put on the governor’s desk during a general election year when immigration is a top issue.

Even if the bill wouldn’t impact the housing market or state budget, it wasn’t crafted well.

AOC could be the democratic nominee and the Cheney family would likely still vote for the democrats. He’s not voting for Harris because he likes her policies. He voting for her because of this reason that he gave…

“In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” Cheney said in a statement. “He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again.”

“As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris”

The argument for it is probably similar to the argument for allowing dreamers to attend university and get white collar jobs. Some people were brought to the states when they were young, and America is all they know.

Do you send someone to a place like Mexico even though they might not really speak fluent Spanish and or know the country well?

I’m more annoyed that Nvidia is looked at like some sort of brilliant strategist. It’s a GPU company that was lucky enough to be around when two new massive industries found an alternative use for graphics hardware.

They happened to be making pick axes in California right before some prospectors found gold.

And they don’t even really make pick axes, TSMC does. They just design them.

It really irritates me that the best range for $ ratio in the US is still dominated by Telsa.

Reading up on AB 1840, it looks like (from what I can grok) this would help undocumented immigrants to get more affordable loans. But they would still be loans, not grants (right?) So I don’t quite understand Newsom’s budget argument. It’s a loan. Most of the money will be coming back over 30 years.

That said, CA’s housing supply is trash, and if this was a ballot initiative, I think you’d have a real hard time passing it. People are rightly or wrongly going to assume that this will increase competition in the buying market. When a house sells in CA’s major metros, it’s on the market for 2 weeks and the seller is sifting through dozens of offers.

Depends on the company. I’ve worked in places where it is totally cool to take the boss down a peg, in a sarcastic / light way. I’ve also worked in places where my employees have feel safe enough to do that to me.

But the end of the day, he’s in a position of power and controls their pay check. Dude shouldn’t be playing around with his employees like that if they’re not reciprocating. That means they probably don’t feel safe.

Every HR training video has at least one segment on this. Linus needs to be forced to watch some basic managerial training videos.

Yeah, I do that from time to time, but often times I see a Daily Beast link and don’t want to deal with cutting, loading, pasting, then launching a desktop cache on a mobile device.

I’m getting into the habit of just googling the topic and looking for a news source like NPR. Something that isn’t ad blocked, and has a nice mobile UI.

Hush money cases with non-violent first time offenders usually doesn’t result in prison time. So, if he got fines, house arrest and or probation, that wouldn’t be abnormal. Handling him with kid gloves would also be inline with how this judge has operated.

BUT, he also threatened the court and jury, and was constantly held in contempt. A lot of trial lawyers assume that, if he does get a few months in prison, his attempt to threaten and bully the court could be the reason for stiffer penalties.
