Different CEOs will have different visions. The old CEO believed more in the value of social and the new one is more pragmatic and wants to focus on deliverable things with tangible returns like Firefox. It's sad though as I think killing Mozilla.social is a mistake and a short-sighted decision.

Should we be worried about the future of IPTV or is it fine?

I'm a carer for my disabled mother, but I'm always a huge believer of fuck cars. I'm super excited about all initiatives that reduce the number of cars on our roads as long as they put alternatives in place. That said, my mum does most of her shopping online, but occasionally she has days when she feels well enough to get outside and see things. So when I see things like this, I instantly think about ways she would be impacted. Under no circumstances am I advocating for a reversal of this decision in any way. But if they added some form of short transportation, I think it would increase accessibility for people like my mum. The decision isn't mine to make or flesh out for feasibility, but I would be a shit son if I didn't speak up about things I'm cognizant of and maybe one day, someone far smarter than I will provide a solution.

Thanks for the heads up.

The whole world isn't even allowed to drive up there now, so why would anyone, let alone me, argue for that? Don't be ridiculous.

The whole sub-thread was me saying that this affects some people in negative ways and everyone acting like what I said is the worst thing ever.

Not surprising given that my initial comment was me effectively commenting that the time of big shopping streets is at an end due to the fact that it's cheaper online but that it would be good for tourism.

I didn't even use big words, I don't know what there is to be confused about. 😵‍💫

Not available on mobile, which is sad. I consume 99% of my internet via mobile devices.

Sad news, battery diversity is important and it definitely shouldn't be tied to the biggest auto manufacturers, otherwise new entries to the auto market won't be a thing again.

They're not going to serve ads in page outside of sponsored tiles and things of that ilk and there's been no suggestion otherwise.

Everyone: Mozilla should find new revenue streams in order to become truly independent.

Mozilla: We're open to suggestions

Everyone: …

Mozilla: We're going to explore doing so in an organic method across our products using the methodology that big tech is generating money, but with a Mozilla spin.

Everyone: How dare you!

Can't wait for all the people that are moaning about Firefox integrating AI to provide parity with every other major browser to have that same energy and lambast Google for trying to fuck over poor people with their market dominance.

Also for the record, Sundar Pichai is an idiot, how does this ever end well?

I think there are disabled people that aren't able to travel autonomously/independently and that the public transportation available is a godsend to them.

So I finally got to ride one and wow they can really go. My favourite feature is probably the worst feature and that's that you can leave them anywhere. However what I didn't realise until actually riding one, is that the app asks you to take a picture of where and how you parked the bike when you're finished and then potentially punishes people who don't park the bikes properly. They can clearly enforce that more. But now I'm of the opinion that the local councils need to provide more bike parking. One or two parking spots at the end of every road would be enough. Being someone that lives in a hilly area, I don't really bother with bikes, but with the electric motors on the Lime bikes, I would ride everywhere and happily switch from Ubers if they were officially operating in my borough. Anyway, they're really really fun and I'm really looking forward to them redressing the balance of cars in London. For short journeys, they're perfect and the more people that access them, the fitter the city will be.

More confirmation that we're moving in the right direction.
