LYRICS:

I ain’t been but one little place and lived here all my life

I ain’t known but one woman and now she is my wife

Never been further than up the road to the town and back again

Never known but a handful of folks and them I call my friends

.

Now I’m going to leave here

Now I’m going away

Keep my fiddle tuned for me

I’ll need it some sweet day

.

Well the preacher said to my only son I’ll sign you up for war

You’ll fight for your life far from your home and never come back no more

Well my only son come home one day and we buried him up the hill

Next to his auntie and old grandma and dear old uncle bill

.

Now I’m going to leave here

Now I’m going away

Keep my fiddle tuned for me

I’ll need it some sweet day

.

Now I’m gonna go myself and see what’s it’s all about

Why’d they take a poor man’s son he was all I got

Who’s pockets are filled with gold and they don’t have to fight

Or leave home and say goodbye to their kids and worry on them all night

.

Now I’m going to leave here

Now I’m going away

Keep my fiddle tuned for me

I’ll need it some sweet day

.

I set up camp one day on the street where the rich man lived

He won’t come out and talk to me he don’t have the time to give

But’ll call the cops and say roustabout’s a-living on our place

So take him away and all his kind I don’t wanna see his face

.

Now I’m going to leave here

Now I’m going away

Keep my fiddle tuned for me

I’ll need it some sweet day

.

I wished I’d stayed to home and kept my son there too

You can give to the rich man all day long but he’ll never give back to you

So they can call me roustabout and do it all they please

Never will I stop for them or get down on my knees

.

Now I’m going to leave here

Now I’m going away

Keep my fiddle tuned for me

I’ll need it some sweet day

Hahaha, oh that video made me smile, thanks!

I just found Russkaja's album "No One Is Illegal" and I'm jamming on that now.

I'll check out Rotfront too later. Thank you

LYRICS

Thank you, Mr. Officer Great

For all the things you've said to me

For all the good that you have ever done

Without you, what would I be?

You're the gas upon my flames

My love and rage all rolled up into one

For every time your gun goes off

A new rebel is born

So when there's 41 bullets

It's 41,000 thorns in your side

We'll take a ride down to Precinct 29

And we'll sing and dance and break the code of silence

Thank you Governor, thank you Governor

To the Mayor and the commissioner

Your monster is alive now

She's taking to the streets

Crashing through your operahouse

And tearing out the seats

For every time you've signed your name

Someone out there dies

Found a wallet, not a gun

And mother's wiping tears from her eyes

We despise your hollow truths and honest lies

Now you can't sing the monster into slumber

Thanks, bastards!

You made me what I am

Thanks, bastards!

I took the goods and ran

Homeland security vs. civil liberty

I'm studying in the shadows of our state

I've seen the bones they try to hide

Cutthroat living's other side

The flood of U.S. bathwater displaced

The funeral march of all the victims

Of your power war

Rob the rights and steal the nights

And rebels shall be born

Forevermore

You're the storm

We shall play after it pours

And joy is sure to come after your silence

Thanks, bastards!

You made me what I am

Thanks, bastards!

I took the goods and ran

This is great! Looking forward to diving into more of their music

If you have any other songs to recommend, I'd love to know!

Brutal! Really sorry to hear that. Sounded like you liked it.

Thanks man. Almost 20yr long profession, and I think this is finally what's gonna get me to switch things up.

You should maybe try Nursery work - there are companies out there that supply plants for reclamation projects.

Funny enough, one of the few gigs I applied to while waiting to hear the news from my boss was in fact a reclamation project, helping with the large dam removal here in OR. They had filled the position already tho. But that is the kind of career pivot I'd love to make!

But, I do love me some harebrained schemes! I'm all ears if you hear of anything.

Moving back to the city will be good for me - it's where all my people and support networks are, it's just not what I'd prefer to be doing long term.

No more ladies currently growing unfortunately...

A wildfire a few years ago hurt the business, and an ice storm this last winter sealed the deal - the company folded... About to move back to the city soon in hopes of better employment

For me in my line of work N, K and P is always the easiest. It's always Ca and Mg causing problems

(Sidenote... It hurts that the meme isn't in N-P-K order lol)

[–] j_roby 2 points 4 months ago

Nice, I'm bookmarking that one!

I got this one here a while ago after hearing lots of good things, tho admittedly haven't gotten around to reading it just yet. It's on my short list for next up tho

Oregonian here. There's currently over 100 fires burning across our state. 5 of them currently considered mega-fires.

Our state-level firefighters, as well as the federal-level are seriously, seriously underpaid. If you're the letter-to-politician-writing type, please help advocate for better pay and benefits for our firefighters

Its been awhile since I've lived in the city, and even longer since I've visited these folks' place, but if you're in the Portland, OR area Free Geek is definitely worth checking out!

Copy paste from their "about" section:

We are a non-profit organization with a mission: to repurpose technology and discover sustainable solutions while providing educational resources. Our ultimate aim is to foster a vibrant community where individuals are empowered to unlock their full potential. Through our dedicated efforts, we strive to transform the world by leveraging technology, sustainability, and education to create a brighter, more inclusive future, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and make a meaningful impact....

Free Geek’s goal is to divert technology that would otherwise be recycled or thrown away, refurbish it, and give it back to our community at no or low cost.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to have to dive down the rabbit hole on Elizabeth Gurley Flynn this weekend. If you have any links to share for further reading, I'd be grateful!

I'm really not a fan of that type of dehumanizing language. But I understand the sentiment. This is one of the worst cases in recent memory of law enforcement's complete lack of regard for human life... This was a really difficult video to watch...

You're very welcome
