The trees were among 250 planted in mid-October by an army of young arborists, paid by Tree Trust for their efforts.

“We spent more than, I’m pretty sure, more than a week on that road,” explains Malick Jenke, among a half-dozen high school grads taking part in Tree Trust’s ‘Branches’ program.

The group of tree planters includes 25 high school students from St. Paul and the ‘Branches’ participants — most of whom are interested in pursuing a green career.

“One tree will take anywhere from a half hour to 45 minutes to get it completely planted, mulched and watered. In some cases, we have to stake those trees as well,” Zumach says.

She notes the value of the destroyed trees adds up to about $12,000, but the City of St. Paul says with labor and other expenses, the costs of the vandalism totals about $40,000.

A spokesperson says replanting the trees is a priority but noted planting season is pretty much at an end.

Well deserved. Betty White was an immense talent and a wonderful human being. She was a true ally against bigotry.

In 1954, as The Betty White Show became national across the United States, White was criticized by many in the Southern states for having Arthur Duncan, a Black tap dancer, on her variety show and was asked to remove him. In the 2018 documentary Betty White: First Lady of Television, White recalled threats to take the show off-air "if we didn't get rid of Arthur, because he was Black." She refused, saying "he stays, live with it".

Also:

A supporter and advocate of LGBT rights, White said in 2010, "If a couple has been together all that time – and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones – I think it's fine if they want to get married. I don't know how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don't worry about other people so much." In a 2011 interview, she revealed that she always knew her close friend Liberace was gay and that she sometimes accompanied him to premieres to help him hide it.

To tag someone, click their username to go to their user page. Then click the three dots in the top right corner and then select "edit tag."

Meh, I bought Ultra lifetime after a few months of using Apollo and never even bothered using push notifications. Which is funny, because it was the main thing I missed when I originally switched from Android and RiF in 2020. Voyager is FOSS so it's understandable that there won't be push notifications, as that require servers which cost money, and it also introduces potential security issues. User tags on the other hand, were something Apollo sorely needed, and the dev never got around to it.

Presets would be cool. I don't really use reddit anymore but RES had presets for usertags and it made tagging MAGA chuds very easy.

Yeah, sorry for being snarky, but the Fediverse refers to all federated software. So, Fedia.io for example, is an MBin instance. Which is different than Lemmy and Mastodon but they can all interact with each other. They're all part of the overall Fediverse. So your comment was just kind of awkwardly phrased and redundant.

Which is both Fediverse and Mastodon.

Well… yeah.

Yeah, there’s no probably about it. That’s just the joke.

Tim Onion

Wait, the CEO of The Onion goes by “Tim Onion” on Bluesky? My word, this whole thing just keeps getting funnier.

Just when the country needed a laugh the most, The Onion went and did the funniest thing they could possibly do. This is a wonderful morning.
