Just block the meme communities and it makes this place a much more engaging site. There's obviously not the same level as reddit yet, but with time it will get there.

This is disgusting and I hope that something is done to rectify this quickly, before things get out of hand in Italy. They've basically handed every creep in the country a free pass, as long as it's a done quickly.

I think this is a terribly disheartening quote. It's very true. But it's sad that there's basically zero hope for us as a people to come together to do great things that benefit our species and the others trapped on this planet with us. We're doomed to a future of selfishness and violence

I didn't even consider there'd be this many subscribers, so I'll just be excited when we get there. Don't think it'll take too long before we reach 3k though.

Sadly, the voices of the ones trying to stem off these climate issues are drowned out by the science-deniers and corporations screaming that there's nothing to worry about. There's too many people that still think this is all a hoax and that winter continuing to come each year is a sign that the climate is fine. There's just enough of us being loud enough to drown out those ignorant voices and force our government to do the right thing.

I was almost sent to the gulag yesterday for having the audacity to ask my teen son to take some ground turkey out of the freezer to defrost. Worst 34 seconds of his life I'm sure.

Beautiful shot.

Yeah, I know. If Lemmy get's big enough it's going to be the top searches just like Reddit was. Until that time though, it's going to be a whole lot of power stache lol.

I keep bouncing between this one and Jerboa. I like Liftoff a little more, as it's easier to handle multiple instances and accounts, but I wish that it had mod tools so I wouldn't have to go my communities in the browser or PC to do anything mod related.

I don't care about the name much, but it's going to make searching for anything on here through a regular search engine cumbersome. Lemmy is just going to bring up results to the late motorhead singer

It's not spam. These communities don't just magically spring up from nothingness, there are people that have to contribute to these to get them started and to get them to grow. If you don't like what you see, then block them, but go take a look at @Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml profile and you'll see they've done more to help this instance and multiple communities grow than just about anyone else.

Lemmy is still new, if you have a suggestion on how you would like to see things improved good, but complaining about something that you aren't thinking about thoroughly isn't helpful at all.

This nebula spans over 3 light years across and had always been one of my favorite celestial objects. The scale and power inherent in the stars is unfathomable.

The activity here is starting to grow and its exciting seeing the engagement and conversations increase. If you're a lurker please post and comment so we can attract new members and build this into a bustling community.

The rim of the large blue galaxy at the right is an immense ring-like structure 150,000 light years in diameter composed of newly formed, extremely bright, massive stars. AM 0644-741 is known as a ring galaxy and was caused by an immense galaxy collision.

In the featured image of the dark southern sky, the three brightest galaxies of the night are all relatively easy to identify. Starting from the left, these are the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), and part of the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy.

I am looking to get some more comfortable clothes for traveling and purchased a Merino wool T-shirt and boxer briefs (I've used Merino wool socks for a while already). Merino wool clothing is super expensive and I don't want to spend upwards of $80 on a shirt. Do you have any recommendations for a frugal alternative?

I've tried to log back in to Jerboa this morning and the login fails. Same with Liftoff. I'm sure it'll be the same with Connect, but I'm not going to logout to test. I can log out just fine on the browser page.
